Problems --crashes-- uploading/connecting to the server

DW CS6 fully updated, MacOS 10.7.5

I started work this morning where I left off last night.  I modified a local copy of a file and used the tool bar up-down-arrow icon to "put" the file to the server.

In preferences, I have the FTP connection "disconnect after" parameter deselected, and a 60 second FTP timeout.

Overnight, DW most certainly lost active FTP contact with the server.  OK, that's reasonable.

This morning, on my first "put" of the day, DW tried to reconnect, as usual: I observed a long pause with a progress bar: "Waiting for Server...".   Fair enough, but then DW crashed.  This isn't repeatable, but it happens often enough to notice, maybe about 20% of the time.

Other than that, I can work steadily for hours, with multiple "puts", no problem.  There's no reason to believe that my servers' FTP servers are having problems.  In any case, nothing on the other end should be capable of crashing DW.

In previous versions, as far back as I can recall, when I encountered a long wait for reconnect, I'd simply abort, and try again.  Almost always, reconnection would occur almost instantly, and I could get on with my work.  The  crash seems to be a new "feature" of CS6.

Crashing is, well, disruptive.  Any ideas what I can do to avoid this?  Should it be necessary for me to re-connect manually with the server before attempting the first "put" of the day?  Suggestions are welcome.

TIA
