Squashed Spry Menu

Hi, I am a student who recently purchased Dreamweaver CS6. I am familiar with Dreamweaver however am a bit lost with the fluid grid layouts.

I have a spry menu bar in a Fluid Layout Div Tag however when I shrink the page in a browser the menu either doesn't shrink at all or the images inside become out of proportion and squashed beyond comprehension. How do I shrink the menu in a browser so it is suitable for a phone without having the images become squashed?
