I am new with Premier Elements, but not video editing. I am trying to cleanup some converted 8mm vids for a Christmas present DVD, but anything I import into Premier is reduced in quality on playback or export. Primarily, the results are "blocky" in that there tends to be horizontal bars through most of the videos as if it was degraded severly. The source videos do not have these artifacts and I get the same results whether and FX are applied or if nothing has been done to the video. I am working on a Windows 7 box with 4GB RAM and no other programs running while rendering (screensaver and AV disabled too).
I like how easy the program is to use, but the results are poor. What gives? Any ideas?
