Hi,
I feel like I'm relearning the wheel every time I run into something new so I have to ask on this:
I am trying to create regular DVD's (just 5 copies) of my Pro video project - just to play on a laptop or a regular standalone DVD player on a TV. It is just old family video and many stills at mixed in at times. I finished the Pro end of it and have everything set in the timeline where I want it and such, ready to export!
What I don't "get" is.. what (steps) to do next. I have read many threads from Pro and Encore, but unfortunately it's not clear to me, so I'm a bit lost. It is just regular NTSC DV, and I do get to select: MPEG2-DVD for the export from Pro. (It says that it will take about 12 hours). It seems like you need to use Encore for the "authoring" I believe to actually CREATE the DVD-ready file, versus, just using the exported .m2v file (from Pro) on a DVD. And I believe that Encore is what will 'wrap' the files into the .vob files and such, and replicate the structure of what we see on most retail DVD's when we look at them in the computer.
So I am not sure what to do next. As I said, I HAVE read on it. I'm just stuck and seem to need help on this one. I see that if I want, I can mark 2 chapter markings (all I would need, if any) in the Timeline in Pro.
So do I send it (the project) to Dynamic Link (from Pro) to Encore? Do I export it first as the MPEG2-DVD format (the 12-hour conversion) and then open Encore and try to import/open that file in there?
(Which method is best for my simple purposes here)?
And does the 1st method help save any time or is it better (or even what I should do)?! Or is the 2nd method above best? Or am I still missing the boat here and haven't grasped at all what I AM suppoed to do next.
This is for the holidays.. and I am worried now that I am not going to simply be able to export/output it to DVD in time!
Thank you so much..
ps - And I do understand that shortly, this thread can be continued if need be in the Encore threads. But to be very honest, I have only used Pro, and I am STILL.. kind of stuck at this end of the equation (while in Pro). So this is where it makes the most sense to ask this actually and begin to understand what EXACT steps - come next.
