text blurry after optimize

I scanned a wordy contract with Fujitsu ScanSnap.  The scan looks nice, clean, very legible.  After I optimized with OCR and reduce file size using Acrobat X the file got smaller but the words are blurry --- almost fax quality?

How can I reduce the file size, straighten the content and maintain a crisp font?
