Having spent nearly two days of trial and error, watching several YouTube videos and signing up to Lynda.com I'm still no closer to a solution.
I'm trying to learn Adobe Flash CS6. I'm can work Adobe Premiere and AE with ease after several years experience. Basically, I'm not an idiot when it comes to Adobe.
What I'm trying to do is to draw a simple stick man figure, apply the bone tool and animate him (or her) walking.
I draw the stick man with the brush tool and with the Object Drawing icon activated (I've also tried this de-activated). When I try and select all, it selects all the elements seperately. Arms, legs, neck etc etc. All the videos are saying select all. Which I'm trying to do. Anyway, this might not be the fault. I go ahead and click the bone tool. When I start adding the bones all hell breaks loose. Nothing connects. If I was trying to animated a plane crash victim I'd be a master.
I've tried many combinations to resolve this. When I say nearly two days, I'm being serious. I've tried everything I can think of. I've used the Adobe Help PDF also. I'm working with a brand new copy of Flash. No setting have been changed.
I think it's something to do with the select tool. Rational thinking and non-rational thinking has got me nowhere.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated by myself and by anyone else who encounters this problem.
Many thanks in advance.

P.S. Trying again now. After putting in the first bone, this is what happens
